PSCU EXECUTIVE TEAM 2016-2017!!!!
yOU VOTED.... hERE ARE THE RESULTS FOR pSYCH sOCIETY EXEC FOR THE UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR:
Hello, I am Joel Landa, I am a third year honours Psychology student with a double minor in Neuroscience and Mental, as well as Disability Studies. I am hoping to become your president for the Psychology Society of Carleton University for 2016-2017.
I want to integrate activities and events, where people are able to socialize with one another and talk about topics in psychology as well. Holding academic talks with professors about their fields, visits to hospitals as well, and other areas people are interested in as well; related to psychology. I would enjoy being in partnership with other societies on campus, closely related to psychology; such as SAMH, Child Studies society, Criminology society, and so forth.
I believe as a Psychology society, getting people involved should be the core of everything. My idea of implementation would be to not only have academics, but to have social events as well. Possible events included would be a Pub night, movie nights, game nights and so forth.
Furthermore, I believe I am capable of being a good president is that I am very sociable. I am not afraid to step out of my comfort zone to make myself and the people around me better. I have been a leader in many situations in my life through sports, academics, and music as well. Finally, I posses willingness to persevere through tough situations, where pressure may be very high.
ESTHER DECK-President, VP Finance, VP Events, and VP Communication
Dear Members of the Psychology Society,
I would like to propose my candidacy for the position of President/VP Events/VP Finance/VP Communication that have been advertised through the Society’s member emails.
I am well informed of the Psychology Society’s internal proceedings as I am currently acting in the position of VP Community. Through my current position, I have gained experience planning and organizing events for Society members, facilitating a team atmosphere, and coordinating tasks with other Executives. I am also experienced in administrative procedures that I believe is an asset to any President or Vice President role, through my employment with the Canada Border Services Agency. These relevant procedures included scheduling and preparing meetings, tracking a budget, and that ensuring team assignments were delegated and completed on time. I am a very independent individual who also exhibits a professional and friendly personality that makes me a cooperative team player within a unit.
I am presently seeking an opportunity to remain in an active role within the Society as I greatly enjoy being a part of this hard-working team and seeing our goals being reached. I invite you to review my attached resume, which will describe my work and volunteer experiences in depth. I am sure that my academic, personal, and technical skill sets are suitable for these active roles and that I would be a valuable asset to the Psychology Society.

YENA LEE-VP FINANCE
My name is Yena Lee and I am running for the Vice President Finance position for the 2016-
2017 school year. I am currently a second year Psychology Honours student. Having recently transferred from an undergraduate business program at UBC, I have two years of relevant experience and knowledge with respect to the fundamental principles of finance and accounting. Some of the key tenets of my platform as your hopeful VP Finance include:
Ensuring the various events held by the PSCU are adequately and economically funded
Manage funds so as to fully benefit the members of the PSCU and their interests
Allocate funds to allow for growth and opportunities for future members within the society
Work closely with the other vice presidents of the PSCU so as to ensure their financial
needs are met when handling their respective obligations and tasks
Take on a transparent approach with budgeting methods by keeping members
frequently updated on the current financial situations of the society
Encourage feedback from students on topics related to budget recommendations,
fundraising efforts for the society, funding various events, etc.
I have an unparalleled passion for the study of human behaviour and would love the opportunity to further explore and develop this interest with other like-minded students. It would be an honour to serve as the VP Finance, working towards the betterment of Carleton’s dynamic psychology student body.
Thank you and remember, vote for Yena!
YIHUI YU - VP Communication
I am writing this response with great excitement to this job opportunity that is available to Carleton University students that spread to me through email. As a communication studies student with experiences with amateur photo shooting and videotaping skills would be a good contributor to Psychology Society’s spread out.
In courses of general introduction to journalism and communication I have developed a generally sophisticated communication skills. I have done multiple successful group projects that every group member in them are satisfied with division of work amount, working time and grades. As a photographer, I use both my phone and professional camera to capture the beautiful moments and things in my life. I have used my photo shooting and video taping skills in the Cu Portfolio at the end of first school year. For results, I got an A grade on that project, which proves I am a fast learner, good writer and excellent photographer. I also have a good sense of balancing between time and work load and arrange time efficiently.
I have an outgoing personality that helps me to communicate with people, fluent English speaking skills and native Chinese language to reach a wider audience. I also have high emotion
intelligence, great at solving conflicts.
In conclusion, I am thrilled at the prospect of contributing my skills to this Program.
